Core Component and Applied Core Assessment: an introduction

Overview 

As part of the new assessment approach, Mode E (UG) and Mode R (PG) regulations make provision for implementing a more innovative approach to assessment.  Known also as CCA and ACA, it respectively allows for assessment as on a PASS/FAIL (CCA) basis as well as on awarding a Grade (ACA). This means that there is can be a distinction between learning credit and assessment credit. The regulations also allow for an integrated assessment bringing the learning on more than one module within a semester together in an Assessment ONLY module. This module will carry zero learning credits but will have assessment credits.
